About Us

Founded in 1992, and originally known as Steps Roleplay, we began by providing professional role players for assessment centres and skills practice. The company has grown and developed since then and we now offer a range of drama based initiatives.

The company was re-branded as Steps Drama Learning Development in 2001. We now have a senior management team of six, with support from in-house Project Managers as well as an administrative and accounting team.   All our programmes are designed with the clients' specific learning objectives in mind and delivered by an experienced team of professional actors (all of whom are trained by Steps), facilitators, consultants and associate trainers.

We have developed a highly effective methodology for working with our clients. Through regular feedback, our clients have told us what they value most about us:

We work in partnership - the Steps approach is non-prescriptive and we work closely with our clients to determine the best way forward. We see each project as different and we always start with a clean slate and build a programme that will comprehensively meet the given objectives.

We are thoroughly professional - with a highly trained team of associates and wide experience of different organisations and cultures, we pride ourselves on delivering our promises and beating the expectations of our clients.

We believe in what we do - as a 100 per cent drama based training specialist, our whole business is dedicated to training, developing and enlightening the delegates on our programmes and on the in-house courses we supplement.

We have a strong adherence to value - not only value for the client in terms of results but also value in the creative process, which is empowering and instructive for the individual and for the organisation.

We have access to specialist expertise - for example if we are conducting a workshop on harassment and bullying in the workplace, we may call upon an employment law specialist to put these issues into a legal context and ensure our characterisations are true to life.

We guarantee our work is fun - the Steps approach has nothing to do with ’chalk and talk’, more to do with ’do and chew’. In our experience, people learn best when they are enjoying themselves. Our clients reinforce this view and many have been kind enough to say that our programmes are the most effective and enjoyable training events they have ever taken part in.
