Role Play

‘Role play, done it, tried it, hated it, it didn’t work.’ A familiar delegates’ lament. How different though the experience of working with a professional role player.

The use of professional actors to add realism and focus is now widely accepted. They come from outside the organisation, immediately side-stepping the problem of role playing with colleagues and providing essential objectivity. Steps role players will not only provide the necessary behavioural challenge for the delegate, they will be able to modify the challenge so that learning for the delegate is maximised.

Coming out of role, the role players provide objective and constructive feedback which concentrates on the impact the participant’s behaviour had upon them.

Steps’ professional role players are extensively used on Development and Assessment Centres and skills training programmes covering: Sales, Customer Service, Telephone Skills, Negotiation, Assertion, Recruitment and Selection, Performance Management, Difficult Conversations and Disciplinary Management.
