Steps' Movember Launch
Steps has always taken an active role in charity fundraising, and this month is no different. Mark and Robbie, two of our directors, have taken on the challenge of cultivating their facial hair and avoiding the scissors for a month – to support the Movember initiative.
During November each year, Movember is responsible for the sprouting of moustaches on thousands of men’s faces in the UK and around the world. The aim of the month-long campaign is to raise vital funds and awareness for men’s health, specifically prostate cancer and other cancers that affect men.
Mark suggests ‘The challenge for us is two fold: to deliver our interactive drama based learning sessions playing a multitude of characters that all have a moustache but, more importantly, to be able to look colleagues in the eye every day and still be taken seriously!’ (We are not yet convinced of the latter Mark, sorry)…
The whole team got behind our resident ‘Mo Bros’ – with a fundraising event involving a series of fun (and slightly ridiculous) moustache-related games. You can see from the picture below that we all took ourselves very seriously. We will be finishing the month with a celebration event – to decide who has earned the ‘Man of the Mo’ banner – we’ll keep you updated with the results!

So, if you are working with Mark or Robbie during November – do look out for their newly-grown ‘taches and feel free to share your thoughts concerning their Movember efforts. Mark is also taking part in the ‘Mo Running’ 10k event in Greenwich on 12th November – let’s hope he doesn’t trip on his tache!
Prostate cancer is the most common cancer in men in the UK and in 2008 around 37,000 men were diagnosed with prostate cancer in the UK alone. The biggest issue is encouraging men to talk about health problems and to seek professional advice - and we’re delighted to support Mark & Robbie and wish them every success in doing their bit to help change this for the better.
