Bringing diversity behaviours to life at the enei
Incorporating the Employers Forum on Age and the Employers Forum on Belief, the Employers Network for Equality & Inclusion (enei) is the UK's leading employer network covering all aspects of equality and inclusion issues in the workplace.
The enei recognises that equality and inclusion issues often cut across the ‘protected characteristics’ as defined under the Equality Act 2010. To help employers think about equality and inclusion in a broader sense they developed a section within their website, looking at a number of cross-cutting themes. In order to highlight these themes, the enei commissioned Steps to create a series of short videos – bringing to life the behavioural aspects of some of the most prevalent diversity and inclusion challenges for HR professionals. These were identified as:
• The well-rehearsed business case for diversity
• The nature of social categorisation, stereotyping, prejudice and organisational bias
• Attracting and recruiting from a diverse talent pool
• Diversity and talent development
• Diversity and workplace retention
• Diversity and career development
We undertook careful research and development in order to put together scripts that would resonate with the key web-users – HR professionals. The scenes serve as short ‘snapshots’ – giving an insight into the way that workplace behaviours can adversely impact individuals and the wider goals of an organisation.
You can view these videos within the
video section of this website – or by visiting the
ENEI website here.
We were really pleased with the final series of short films. The enei were also delighted with the results and online viewing statistics have echoed this success. This was a great first collaboration between Steps and the Employers Network for Equality & Inclusion, and we have since accepted an invitation to join the network as organisational partners.
